Everything began when my father returned from a trip to Senegal ( my home of country)
Knowing my taste for all kinds of accessories , he gifted me a wax handbag.
This bag quickly captivated my attention with its colors , shape and print.
I decided to wear it throughout the summer, from my suburb in the 93 district to Paris, and not a day went by without receiving a compliment.
This experience made me reflect ..
My love for African fabrics, rich in history and heritage , has always been present in me.
I grew up watching my mother and my aunts elevate these fabrics.
I’ve always had the ambition to one day create a brand that honors the magnificent textiles of the continent.
Inspired by the enthusiasm around this wax handbag and motivated by my love for African textiles, I decided to launch my own line of handbags.
My mission is to create trendy , limited-edition handbags that showcase the diversity of African fabrics.
By offering you, the Wax, a fabric from elsewhere that has been embraced by African culture.
As well as authentic African fabrics such as The Bogolan from Mali, The Baoulé from Ivory Coast, and many more.
Additionally, we explain the original use of each fabric according to the country.
In November 2018, I began my first sketches, then moved on to prototypes, until I achieved the desired visual, assembly and finishes.
In July 2019, the mini bag was born, a mini capsule collection featuring a modern and trendy handbag model in three wax prints.
It was an opportunity for me to gather feedback on my product and make necessary adjustments afterwards.
In august 2019 , I launched the bags for sale on instagram with an introductory price.
One order, then two, then six, marking the beginning of DS AFRICAINES .
Ds africaines is a handbag brand for ALL women.
These are handmade, modern, and colorful bags that can be worn day and night.
Crafted with high-quality fabrics sourced from local vendors in Africa or Diaspora merchants.
This adventure aims to discover or rediscover the beautiful fabrics that Africa abounds in another form.
